CounterSpy leverages your device's sensors and network scanning to identify potential hidden cameras in your environment. Designed to help you feel more secure when staying in hotels, Airbnbs, or other accommodations.

Important: CounterSpy uses specific sensors and scanning techniques, but does not guarantee it will detect every hidden device. Various factors (device placement, signal interference, non-standard protocols) may affect detection accuracy.

User-Friendly Interface

Ad-Supported Experience

CounterSpy is completely free. The app is supported solely by ads served through Google AdMob.

What CounterSpy does NOT do

No tracking

We do not track your personal data or location. All processing occurs locally on your device. No information is sent to external servers for tracking purposes.

No data storage on external servers

All scan data is stored locally on your device using Apple's built-in UserDefaults framework. We do not maintain any external database or online history. Only the minimal scan history necessary for the app's functionality is retained, and it remains confined to your device's local storage.

No data sharing

Your information remains private. CounterSpy does not share any data with third parties. The only external integration is with Google AdMob for serving ads, and we do not modify or track ad content.

No unauthorized surveillance

CounterSpy is designed exclusively as a personal safety tool to help you detect potential unauthorized surveillance (such as hidden cameras used for nefarious purposes). Intended for use in situations where you want to enhance your security — hotels, Airbnbs, or other accommodations.

Important: the app does not guarantee discovery of all hidden devices. Users should not rely solely on CounterSpy for complete security or privacy. Advanced or non-standard devices might not be detected by our scanning methods.

External integrations

Google AdMob

CounterSpy is supported solely by ads provided through Google AdMob. Google's policies govern the ad experience. We do not have any influence over or access to the ad content. This is our only external integration.

Privacy & data policy

No tracking or sharing

We do not collect, track, store, or share any personal data or usage history. All processing is performed on your device only.

On-device processing & secure by design

All scan data is stored locally via Apple's UserDefaults. This data is not sensitive and is used solely to display your minimal scan history.

We rely on industry-standard, built-in iOS security measures to help protect your data. UserDefaults is not intended for highly sensitive information.

Data storage & privacy limitations

All data (minimal scan history) is stored locally on your device using UserDefaults. This data is not sensitive, is not shared externally, and is retained only as long as necessary for immediate functionality.
